Technical Writer
Join Six Robotics and help shape how the world understands autonomous drone systems. Build living, interactive documentation that makes complex technology clear, reliable, and mission-ready.
At Six Robotics, you're not just joining a company; You're joining a mission to reshape the future of autonomous systems.
At Six Robotics, we build intelligent software that gives Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) the ability to collaborate, adapt on the fly, and execute missions that were previously impossible. From our base in Oslo, our 40+ experts in defence, software, and AI develop Valkyrie, our flagship autonomy and swarm platform used by both government and industry. In close partnership with the Norwegian Defence Research Establishment (FFI), we move fast from concept to live deployment, often in the field alongside end users.
We work with advanced hardware and software, a modern tech stack, and missions that demand both technical mastery and operational discipline. Everyone is close to the action, from deep technical problem-solving to field operations. We move fast and value clarity, integrity, and teamwork in everything we do.
At Six Robotics, every person executes with precision, adapts to changing conditions, and strengthens the team. We only hire the best. Getting in is hard, and you’ll be challenged every day. But if you have the skill, the discipline, and the drive to push your limits, you’ll find no better place to deliver real-world impact while collaborating and learning from the best in the field.
About the Role
At Six Robotics, we believe that complex technology should be understandable and usable for the people who rely on it. As Valkyrie, our autonomous drone swarm platform, continues to grow, we are looking for a Technical Writer to take ownership of how the product is documented and explained.
This role is not about maintaining static manuals. You will work closely with engineers and product stakeholders to shape how technical information is structured, written, and kept up to date. You will help turn complex functionality into documentation that is clear, practical, and aligned with how the product is actually used.
The documentation function is still forming, and we welcome applications from candidates with different levels of experience. While the scope of the role is clear, the exact focus might evolve depending on your strengths and interests. The role sits under Product and plays an important part in scaling knowledge across engineering, customer-facing teams, and end users.
What You’ll Do:
Take ownership of how Valkyrie is documented and explained, working closely with engineers and product stakeholders to turn complex functionality into clear, usable documentation.
Work with existing documentation by reviewing, improving, and restructuring content where needed. You will decide what to keep, what to rewrite, and where the structure itself should change.
Collaborate directly with engineers to understand new features and changes, asking questions when things are unclear and helping translate technical decisions into user-facing documentation.
Help shape how documentation is structured and organized over time, contributing to decisions around formats, tools, and ways of working together with the team.
Ensure documentation stays aligned with product releases and reflects how the system is actually used in practice.
Collaborate with our AI enablement engineer and developers to automate parts of the documentation workflow, including generating and updating screenshots to ensure documentation stays accurate over time.
Write with different users in mind, adjusting depth, tone, and format to support both learning and real-world usage.
What We Are Looking For
We are looking for someone who enjoys writing, learning, and making complex things easier to understand. You do not need to be a programmer, but you should be comfortable working with technical concepts and asking questions when something does not make sense.
This role can be shaped depending on experience. We care more about writing quality, curiosity, and structured thinking than about titles or years of experience.
We Believe the Right Candidate Brings
Strong written English and the ability to communicate technical concepts clearly. You do not need to be a native speaker.
A structured way of thinking and attention to clarity and usability.
Confidence to ask questions and push for clarity when information is incomplete.
A user-first mindset and care for quality.
Motivation to improve how things are done, not just follow existing documentation.
Nice to Have
Experience with technical documentation tools such as Sphinx, Mintlify, Docusaurus, or similar.
Familiarity with docs-as-code principles such as version control and structured content.
Exposure to standards like S1000D or other structured documentation approaches.
Basic understanding of software development workflows.
What This Role is Not
This is not a programming or scripting role.
You are not expected to build or maintain complex automation or front-end solutions on your own.
Deep engineering expertise is not required, but curiosity and willingness to learn are important.
