Technical Writer
Join Six Robotics as our first Technical Writer and define how the world understands autonomous systems. Build living, dynamic documentation that makes complex drone technology clear, usable, and miss
At Six Robotics, you're not just joining a company; You're joining a mission to reshape the future of autonomous systems.
At Six Robotics, we build intelligent software that gives Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) the ability to collaborate, adapt on the fly, and execute missions that were previously impossible. From our base in Oslo, our 40+ experts in defence, software, and AI develop Valkyrie, our flagship autonomy and swarm platform used by both government and industry. In close partnership with the Norwegian Defence Research Establishment (FFI), we move fast from concept to live deployment, often in the field alongside end users.
We work with advanced hardware and software, a modern tech stack, and missions that demand both technical mastery and operational discipline. Everyone is close to the action, from deep technical problem-solving to field operations. We move fast and value clarity, integrity, and teamwork in everything we do.
At Six Robotics, every person executes with precision, adapts to changing conditions, and strengthens the team. We only hire the best. Getting in is hard, and you’ll be challenged every day. But if you have the skill, the discipline, and the drive to push your limits, you’ll find no better place to deliver real-world impact while collaborating and learning from the best in the field.
About the Role
At Six Robotics, we believe world-class technology deserves world-class documentation. As we scale Valkyrie, our autonomous drone swarm platform, we’re making an early and intentional investment in how users understand, adopt, and succeed with our products. That’s why we’re hiring our first Technical Writer to own all product documentation. This role goes far beyond writing manuals. With help from our software team, you’ll implement a living documentation platform, combining structured guides with live data, interactive tools, and embedded testing.
Your ultimate goal is maximizing team and user efficiency by ensuring Valkyrie is clear, accessible, and reliable for mission-critical users. As the founding member of this function, you will define the standards and processes that all future hires will follow. While you do not need to be a deep-level engineer, you must have the confidence to extract and structure complex information from technical experts. Success means Valkyrie's capabilities are fully documented, structured, and easy to maintain, with all user manuals published accurately and on time with every software release.
What You’ll Do:
- Documentation Architecture: Be the architect for all documentation and own our platform, using tools like Sphinx and custom integrations as needed.
- Content Development: Develop and manage content enriched with live data, interactive tools, and 3D visualizations.
- Internal Collaboration: Proactively engage with engineers and subject matter experts to gather necessary information, and never hesitate to ask clarifying questions to ensure documentation is accurate and testable.
- Publishing Automation: Enable multi-format publishing (web, PDF, localized versions) using automation and version control for consistency and scale.
- Strategic Foundation: Lay the groundwork for the future expansion of the documentation function, contributing to standards and processes that will enable team growth.
Who We’re Looking For
We’re looking for someone who loves the craft of technical writing and thrives on ambiguity. You know how to turn sprawling, technical complexity into clear, structured, and user-friendly documentation. As the first hire in this function, you’re excited to define standards, solve edge cases, and lay the groundwork for a scalable documentation practice.
To thrive in this role, you likely bring a combination of the following:
- Exceptional writing skills and fluency in English.
- A “docs as code” mindset, meaning you understand the principles of Git, version control, and automation.
- Familiarity with dynamic documentation and integrating live data from external systems.
- A strong sense of structure, clarity, and usability, always advocating for the end-user perspective.
- Motivation to build something from scratch, with full ownership of both process and platform, and the vision to scale it into a function.
Bonus Points For:
- Experience with the s1000D standard is a huge plus.
- An understanding of scripting languages.
