Technical Documentation Specialist
Build living, interactive documentation that makes cutting-edge defence technology clear, reliable, and mission-ready.
At Six Robotics, we build intelligent software that gives Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) the ability to collaborate, adapt on the fly, and execute missions that were previously impossible. From our base in Oslo, our 70+ experts in defence, software, and AI develop our product, our flagship autonomy and swarm platform used by both government and industry. In close partnership with the Norwegian Defence Research Establishment (FFI), we move fast from concept to live deployment, often in the field alongside end users.
We work with advanced hardware and software, a modern tech stack, and missions that demand both technical mastery and operational discipline. Everyone is close to the action, from deep technical problem-solving to field operations. We move fast and value clarity, integrity, and teamwork in everything we do.
At Six Robotics, every person executes with precision, adapts to changing conditions, and strengthens the team. Getting in is hard, and you’ll be challenged every day. But if you have the skill, the discipline, and the drive to push your limits, you’ll find no better place to deliver real-world impact while collaborating and learning from the best in the field.
About the Role
At Six Robotics, we believe that complex technology should be understandable and usable for the people who rely on it. As our autonomous drone swarm platform continues to grow, we are looking for a Documentation Specialist to take ownership of how the product is documented, delivered, and experienced in practice.
You will influence both how documentation is built and how it is used, from designing a scalable documentation platform to supporting our users directly in the field with the right information.
You will work closely with engineers, product stakeholders, and customers to ensure that technical knowledge is structured, accurate, and continuously evolving alongside the product. This includes turning complex functionality into clear, practical documentation, as well as validating it through real-world usage.
Our ideal documentation function is still forming, and you will play a key role in shaping it.
What You’ll Do
Create clear, user-focused documentation that translates complex product functionality into practical and accessible content for different audiences.
Review and improve existing documentation, restructuring content where needed to create a more intuitive and scalable knowledge base.
Collaborate closely with engineers and product stakeholders to understand new features, clarify technical decisions, and ensure documentation reflects how the product works in practice.
Help shape documentation standards, workflows, and tooling, contributing to efficient ways of working and long-term scalability.
Support the development of a modern documentation platform, including structured content, versioning, and multiple output formats.
Work with AI-focused initiatives to automate parts of the documentation lifecycle and improve how content is created, maintained, and validated.
Who are we looking for
We’re looking for a pragmatic and structured technical documentation specialist who enjoys making complexity simple. This role suits someone who is curious, collaborative, and comfortable working closely with engineers and end-users to understand how things actually work.
You bring a flexible mindset, balance detail with efficiency, and are excited by opportunities to improve documentation through better processes, tooling, and AI-enabled workflows. You are proactive in asking questions, comfortable navigating ambiguity, and motivated by creating documentation that is both practical and easy to maintain over time.
We believe the right candidate brings:
Strong written English and the ability to explain technical concepts clearly.
A structured way of thinking and focus on usability and clarity.
Confidence to ask questions and push for clarity when information is incomplete.
A hands-on mindset and willingness to engage directly with customers.
Curiosity and motivation to deeply understand both technology and the domain.
Ownership mindset, someone who wants to improve how things are done, not just maintain them.
The ability to use AI and other tools to work efficiently, improve workflows, and scale how documentation is created and maintained.
Nice to Have
Experience with documentation tools such as Sphinx, Docusaurus, Mintlify, or similar.
Familiarity with docs-as-code principles (version control, structured content).
Exposure to structured documentation standards such as S1000D.
Understanding of software development workflows and release processes.
What This Role is Not
This is not a pure engineering role.
You are not expected to build full-scale front-end systems independently.
Deep engineering expertise is not required, but curiosity and willingness to learn are essential.
This is not a role where you sit in isolation, producing documentation handed over by others.
You will not be “handed finished answers”; this role requires active collaboration, asking questions, and engaging closely with engineers, product, and customers.
Why you should join
At Six Robotics, we build systems that work when it matters the most. If you're driven by meaningful problems, technical depth, and the chance to shape something from the ground up, you'll find your place here.
Contribute to a mission with urgency: Help build autonomy that protects nations and deters conflict in an era defined by unmanned warfare. The problems are real, the stakes are high, and the need is now.
Take ownership from day one: You’ll be trusted with real responsibility early, with the autonomy to move fast and solve hard problems without unnecessary layers.
Build from zero, shape the future: Join early and help shape the systems, tools, and ways of working as we scale. What you build is used in real operations, with a short and clear feedback loop between your work and its impact.
Work with purpose, supported by great benefits: Be part of a team of smart, driven, and engaged individuals who take pride in their work and push each other to improve. We offer competitive compensation, equity potential, and solid insurance and pension plans.
Our recruitment process
We aim to keep our process short and sweet, but also thorough. As a scaling company, every hire matters, and we can’t afford to get this one wrong.
Here’s what to expect:
Screening interview with one of our recruiters to get to know you better (30 min).
Meet & Greet with someone from the team to get to know each other better (60 min).
Structured case interview to understand role fit and potential (90 min).
Final interview with Head of People to assess cultural fit (45 min).
Reference check followed by an offer if everything goes well.
All employees at Six Robotics are required to undergo a security clearance (Sikkerhetsklarering) due to our close collaboration with the Norwegian Armed Forces. Prior clearance is not required; the process begins as part of onboarding.
