Computer Vision Engineer
Join us at the frontier of AI and robotics, building autonomous UAV systems that sense, adapt, and act together in the real world.
At Six Robotics, we build intelligent software that gives Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) the ability to collaborate, adapt on the fly, and execute missions that were previously impossible. From our base in Oslo, our 30+ experts in defence, software, and AI develop Valkyrie, our flagship autonomy and swarm platform used by both government and industry. In close partnership with the Norwegian Defence Research Establishment (FFI), we move fast from concept to live deployment, often in the field alongside end users.
We work with advanced hardware and software, a modern tech stack, and missions that demand both technical mastery and operational discipline. Everyone is close to the action, from deep technical problem-solving to field operations. We move fast and value clarity, integrity, and teamwork in everything we do.
At Six Robotics, every person executes with precision, adapts to changing conditions, and strengthens the team. We only hire the best. Getting in is hard, and you’ll be challenged every day. But if you have the skill, the discipline, and the drive to push your limits, you’ll find no better place to deliver real-world impact while collaborating and learning from the best in the field.
About the Role
We’re building drone systems that don’t just capture images, they extract actionable insights from the environment in real time. At Six Robotics, we operate at the cutting edge of autonomy, where UAV swarms equipped with advanced camera-based sensor systems and AI carry out mission-critical operations in complex, dynamic environments.
To make this happen, we’re building a brand-new Perception team, and we’re looking for two computer vision engineers to help shape it from the ground up. One will step into a senior role to lead and set direction, while for the second position, we’re open to candidates with a bit less experience who are eager to grow and contribute. Together, you’ll play a key role in defining how we build and deliver perception at scale.
This is a true greenfield opportunity. As our first in-house vision systems specialists, you’ll take the lead in shaping how we design, build, and deploy computer vision and sensor capabilities across our drone platforms. Your work will directly influence sensing performance, inform future UAV design and architecture choices, and help us extract the maximum value from our onboard sensors.
You’ll work with mission-critical computer vision, video analysis, optics, embedded systems, GPU acceleration and AI models, turning raw sensor input into intelligent, reliable in-flight behavior.
You’ll collaborate closely with machine learning engineers, hardware specialists, and software teams to improve tracking and image stability, design and deploy embedded AI pipelines, and guide the selection and integration of camera systems. You’ll implement robust target detection, target tracking and target triangulation algorithms for multi-camera and multi-drone systems, develop robust sensor calibration routines, and play a key role in diagnosing and fixing performance issues for real-world operations.
If you're passionate about computer vision in real environments, enjoy tackling complex challenges at the intersection of physics, software, hardware and AI, and want to take full ownership of a deeply technical domain, this is your chance to make a real impact.
What You Will Do
You’ll work on the full imaging pipeline, from lens selection and optics to sensor integration and high-level software, using advanced image processing techniques to ensure data quality and consistency. You will:
- Design, implement, and deploy computer vision algorithms that complement AI models on embedded hardware for real-time, in-flight decision-making.
- Lead the selection, calibration, and configuration of camera systems to ensure high-quality sensing in dynamic conditions.
- Work hands-on with HW-acceleration and performance tuning on edge compute platforms.
- Work as part of a software engineering team to integrate perception into autonomy loops, ship new features, and maintain strong testing and validation routines.
- Stay up to date with the latest in computer vision, AI, and sensing technologies, and bring those advancements into our platform.
You’ll be building the foundation of our visual understanding, turning raw pixels into intelligent behavior.
What We Are Looking For
We’re looking for software engineers with solid fundamentals and a strong drive to keep learning by building real systems. In this role, perception isn’t just about clever algorithms; it’s about production-ready software, real-world physics, and smart design choices. You’ll work close to the hardware, think holistically about system design, and take ownership of features from start to finish. Backed by a strong and collaborative team, you’ll grow your impact while helping raise the quality bar through clear code and thoughtful architecture.
You likely bring:
- A background in computer vision, applied mathematics, and programming.
- Experience working with camera systems for real-world applications.
- Interest in working with real-time, high-performance vision processing, object detection, object tracking, calibration and sensor fusion.
- A Master’s degree or higher in physics, optics, cybernetics, robotics, Computer Science or a related field.
Bonus points for:
- Experience with radar, LiDAR, or visual-inertial odometry systems.
- Proficiency in Python, C++, and GPU-accelerated computation.
- Confidence in evaluating optical trade-offs, sensor configurations, and hardware constraints.
This is a rare opportunity to help shape the perception stack from the ground up in one of Europe’s most exciting drone autonomy platforms. You’ll work on mission-critical technology where real-world performance and technical excellence matter, and help define the future of swarm robotics.
Why You Should Join Six Robotics
At Six Robotics, we're not just building software - we're redefining how unmanned systems operate in the real world. If you're driven by meaningful problems, technical depth, and the chance to shape something from the ground up, you'll find your place here.
- Work on problems that matter: Our technology helps unlock smarter, safer, and more adaptable UAV operations in defense and industry, solving real challenges with direct, tangible impact.
- Lead the shift in a hardware-dominated space: We're bringing modern AI, autonomy, and scalable software into a field that's long relied on rigid, pre-programmed systems, to change how UAVs are designed, deployed, and managed.
- Build from zero, shape the future: Join early and help define the core systems, tools, and culture of a company that’s still being built - where your ideas, code, and decisions will have a lasting influence.
- Work with purpose, supported by great benefits: You'll be part of a mission-driven team that values clarity, integrity, and collaboration, offering competitive pay, strong insurance and pension plans, and ongoing learning opportunities.
