Senior Software Engineer - DevEx, Infra, Build, CI
We usually respond within a week
At Six Robotics, we work with both software and a variety of hardware devices such as drones, sensors, cameras, embedded GPUs, and more as our ecosystem expands. This diverse setup presents us with unique challenges and exciting tasks that go beyond those of a typical software company. It also significantly increases the complexity and demands on our development infrastructure, making its construction an engineering challenge in itself.
We are currently seeking our first dedicated hire to focus on build systems, toolchains, dependency management, hardware-in-the-loop testing, and the development of internal tools and services.
About the Role
Six Robotics aims to build a solid Developer Experience (DevEx) foundation that enables our software engineers to develop and test reliably. Our goal is to allow them to focus on their core tasks and expertise, making the greatest impact in their areas of strength. As Six Robotics grows in developer count, our DevEx systems will scale to keep pace, ensuring ease of use, high performance, and continuous uptime. We will also develop new and more advanced DevEx features to support expanding teams and evolving requirements.
We are currently looking for someone with industry experience in building and managing such systems, and hands-on knowledge of what works well and how to achieve it effectively.
As an early hire, you will have significant influence over the direction we take, including decisions on specific languages and tools. Certain things are set already; The product is C++, Python, ROS and AI/ML running on Linux, accelerators(GPUs,..), x86 desktop and ARM embedded. We're using Monorepo, and integration testing needs hardware-in-the-loop, the rest is in the making.
If the following tools and concepts resonate with you, and you have the experience to orchestrate them (or similar tools) in a professional setting, then we would love to hear from you!
- Bazel, Docker, Ansible, Elastic, code analysis, linters, QEMU, KVM, VPN, self hosted services, log scraping, dashboards, caches, mirrors, Kubernetes, Cockpit, Memfault, Nix, GitHub Actions, load balancing, Artifactory, queue systems, high availability, Python, C++, InfoSec
